Description

The 3-foot-wide base Alpha Loop that covers 10 to 40 Meters is remotely tuned and rated at 100 watts PEP SSB, 50 watts CW, or 25 watts digital, which are each based on duty cycles.

This stealthy magnetic loop antenna with direct wire remote control is a tuned circuit, so there is no need for radials or counterpoise. Perfect for Attic, *Mast, EmComm Trailer, or anywhere when reliable and quiet communications is required in a small space.

Helpful Tips

• *Third party Satellite Dish mounting option: Amazon.com: Outdoor 1 1/4″ Diameter, 5′ 6″ Arm Length mount.
• Minimum mounting height is 1 loop diameter high (about 3 feet or higher).
• Alpha MagLoop antennas can be placed high enough to see above and past obstacles.
• Attic installations with asphalt shingles typically see only a little more than 1 S-Unit of loss.
• Can be mounted horizontally on *your mast to enhance Omnidirectional and NVIS performance.
• Total maximum tuning time from 7.0MHz to 29.7MHz is 90 seconds when the tuning speed knob is turned completely to the right.

• If you experience a louder than expected noise from the power supply or when tuning the loop, you may do one or all three of these things:
  • Use the remote power cable to form loops through a solid mix type 31 ferrite core.
  • Ground the barrel side of the BNC Connector on the remote-control unit.
  • Flip the power supply of the remote control over where it plugs into your power strip. Ensuring that the plug is oriented correctly for grounding can lower the noise floor. This is of course reliant on your home’s outlet being wired correctly for a ground on the two-prong outlet.

Radiation Patterns

The Alpha Loop exhibits overlapping radiation patterns in the far field, reducing the impact of nulls when communicating with stations beyond the immediate area of operation. Additionally, it maintains a directional null through the center of the loop, which is advantageous for effectively minimizing local noise sources.

IP 65 Rating

The enclosure at the antenna that contains all of the tuning hardware is dust-tight and protects against water jets from any direction from damaging the internal components.

Remote Tuning tips

• It takes approximately 40 seconds to tune from 40 to 10 meters with the Speed control knob turned right. By performing this step, you may set the capacitor at either the high or low tuning range. This makes it easier to know if you are tuning Up or Down.
• If you don’t have any idea what frequency you are on, then pressing either the left or right button for 90 seconds resets the loop to either the lowest or highest frequency.
• Tapping the left or right button on the magnetic loop’s remote control allows for incremental stepped tuning.
• Make a note on whether your loop is either tuning up in frequency or down in frequency when pressing either green or red button, as the circuit can send a forward/reverse command that is dependent upon how your wall-wart is plugged into the wall.
• NOTE – There is a clutch between the motor and the capacitor, which lets the motor continue to turn without being damaged.
